Martyr de Mona are currently cracking skulls across the nation with their huge anthemic grunge tinged metal, setting the trend for the next wave whilst tipping an appreciative hat to their illustrious predecessors from the Midlands; Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. MDM have a sound of their own, crossing the genres of rock and metal and play what they want to play. Hailed as 'The darlings of the Birmingham metal scene' by Mel Jones (Rock3); MDM have cemented their reputation as a class live act; being crowned Wolverhampton Live Band of the Year Competition Winners in 2007 and reaching the Surface Unsigned Semi Finals in 2008. The band went on to perform sell out shows at The Little Civic in Wolverhampton, JBs in Dudley, The Kasbah in Coventry and The Shed in Leicester and also progressed onto esteemed venues such as The Snooty Fox in Wakefield and The Mexborough Civic as they branched from their Midlands base gaining many new fans on the way. Now with over 3000 online friends, MDM continue to plough through the nation with their live show and released the Eva EP in November 2010 to widespread acclaim via Eagle Two Records. Produced by Russell Tite who has worked with bands such as Machine Head, Bullet For My Valentine and The Kooks; the EP gained positive reviews in magazines and webzines such as Metal Hammer, Powerplay and Midlands Rocks, with all 4 tracks gaining airplay on several national radio stations including Kerrang! Unsigned, Onslaught Radio, Phoenix Radio and many more. The track 'Identity' has been chosen by a London Film Producer for the soundtrack to the forthcoming project 'Identity Denied'. The EP proved to be a catalyst for MDM and quickly pushed them onto bigger events; selling out shows for promoters such as Emma Scott Presents, The Catapult Club and Ovation Music at The Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton and O2 Academy 3 in Birmingham and also winning coveted support slots with Sonic Syndicate, Blowsight and Voodoo Johnson. The band gathered momentum into 2011 with shows across the country including a debut in London at 229 Venue with Counterpoint and a slot at the legendary Sonic Rock Solstice festival in June. MDM released their first single 'The Jackal' on 11th July 2011, a perfect prelude to the the long awaited launch of their self titled debut album. This was met with a sell out crowd at Birmingham's O2 Academy 3 marking the highlight of the band's career so far! Rave reviews in the press followed and a highly anticipated UK Tour to promote the album will see the band playing dozens of shows until Christmas. With further plans for an acoustic EP, these are exciting times. The buzz is circling, the crowds are gathering, turn a blind eye at your peril!
