Biography

Having spent a couple of years learning the ropes, teaching themselves how to produce and becoming a totally self-sufficient musical monster, The Scholars are as ambitious and hard-working as they are slick and professional. Having achieved far more with nothing than most bands can on a recording contract, The Scholars have worked their way up to support slots with Two Door Cinema Club, The Boxer Rebellion and The Big Pink as well as earning slots on BBC Introducing Stages at Truck and Wychwood. Although 2011 was spent mainly writing and recording, The Scholars were chosen to represent Oxford at the BBC Introducing's live night at the O2 Academy which went on be a sell out night.

2012 has already brought new single 'This Heart's Built To Break' which was released on January 23rd as a free download alongside a self-produced music video. An earlier, unreleased incarnation was a favourite on Kerrang! FM, NME Radio and the BBC Introducing programme which culminated in an interview at BBC 6 Music on Tom Robinson's show.

"'This Heart' smashes in with a killer guitar line, huge energy, a clear unpretentious production sound and hits the hookline right there at the start of the song. It's like a manifesto, a clarion call to emotional arms. You can easily start a radio show with it, it's that good." -Tom Robinson
