The band formed early September 2009 and have since played at numerous venues, pubs and festivals throughout Nottingham/Derbyshire (including Derby Assembly Rooms Main Hall to a crowd of 2000) & have supported and played alongside an endless list of bands including Luke Leighfield, Emotional Arsonist (on their UK tour) & Luxury Stranger just to name a few.
In early 2010 the band recorded three demo tracks at the Fleet Studio in Belper and later recorded a cover song for a Derby Compilation CD as part of Love Music Hate Racism.In the summer of 2010 The Standby Setting took part in a Music Exchange with two Italian bands and up and coming Derby band \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'David Gibb & The Pony Club\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' doing a week of gig\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s in Derbyshire including Y-Not Festival. In October they spent 5 days gigging in Italy.
Their debut EP \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Turning Wheels\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' was recorded live at Belpers\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' Sound Hub Studios summer 2011 and is available now at gigs. 2012 is planned to be the bands busiest year yet as they are, as of January ,working with Medius Music in order to distribute their first Single.
