We have now done four – yikes! –  shoots for RBBJ 2012, and I’m slowly losing track of everyone’s names as we blast our way around the nation, searching out the best new music around.

This week, the RBBJ team – that’s me and our camera/sound/awesome crew travelled to Birmingham to film Bedroom Jam Show number Four with STRANGLE KOJAK!

Despite having a totally mental name (that’s actually rather rude, and I won’t go any further into that…), the band are all rather wonderfully friendly, and it was amazing to arrive at Max’s house in Brum to find so many people ready to support the lads on their epic Bedroom Jam experience.

The house was packed with family, friends, fans and pets (well, one pet), all ready to be part of the day’s filming (whether they liked it or not! Mwah ha haha!). Many thanks to everyone who took part – it was a real combined effort!

Here’s vocalist (and sometimes guitarist) Omar, taking a break from the strain of emptying Max’s bedroom of furniture!

Next up, here is a snap of our camera man Will as he gathers some footage out at the back of the house of all of the band’s friends and family who have come to hang out.

Part of my interviews on the day included Max’s mum and dad – Dave and Jane – as well as their beautiful dog Dexter. Here is Dave and Dexter taking some time out…

As we wandered around the house, we found Max’s ‘second’ bedroom, which is entirely painted in orange and black to support his favourite footy team. Here is a photo of Sam in the room – who apparently found that hat backstage after an N-Dubz gig (why was he there?) and reckons it may well  belong to singer Dappy.

Back outside, I interviewed Max’s sister, the band’s fan CJ and this chap… with a skull on his head.

Finally, we were ready to get going with the live performance.. and here is our mega-badass-sound-chap Josh putting the final touches to the bedroom before we pressed record.

We have now done three shoots for RBBJ 2012, and I’m racking up train miles all across the country, searching out the best new music around.

This week, the RBBJ team travelled to Weston-super-Mare to film Bedroom Jam Show Three with SHOW IT OFF!

I arrived early at the house and was welcomed by the very friendly band and their family and friends, with a cup of tea and some toast. Amazing!

The house was that of bassist Robbie (the cheery ginger haired one in their photos) and he made sure everyone felt right at home as we prepared to transform (trash) his house, and turn his bedroom from living space… to live space.

Here is Saffy – the family dog – she has a little house under the stairs, and enjoyed interrupting our filming links with the odd happy bark! Too cute.

The rest of the team arrived and we filmed the band carting all their gear up to the first floor bedroom (I would have helped, but I was holding the camera!).

We cleared out the stuff from the bedroom, and were pleased to discover this amazing wall of Robbie’s – covered in things he has collected from gigs and trips over the years, as well as notes that fans have given Show It Off.

While most of the band helped out, guitarist Johnny (the latest addition to the band), serenaded us all with a ukulele cover of Nirvana.

So, we were all set up and ready to go – I interviewed the band, chatted to their pals, forced them to give their rock confessions into our toilet cam, and we were all set and ready to play… Here’s drummer Migs getting ready to (drum) roll.

And there you go! The band started playing, and went through their three chosen songs. You will have to wait until next week to see the full show – it’s well worth the wait!

We have now done two shoots for RBBJ 2012, and it’s already shaping up to be the Best.Year.Ever. (true!).

This week, we travelled to Bristol to film Bedroom Jam Show Two with BEYOND RECALL.

We filmed the show at their pal Daryl’s Grandad Fred’s house. That make sense? Basically, the band always jam and hang out at Daryl’s place, and he had a perfect ground-floor bedroom (no shaking ceilings this time) to film the ‘Recall Jam!

The house was packed when I arrived, with friends and family members (and Grandpa Fred) all packed into the kitchen making drinks and snacking away – getting ready for the day’s performance and interviews.

Everyone was really friendly and kind… and the band even gave me a bunch of flowers at the end of the day! So kind. Thanks chaps.
